Size:  13.5 x 7.3 x 5 inches.  This is a museum specimen that cannot be properly evaluated by a couple of website pictures.  Hopefully it will go to a local museum where it really belongs.  The pictures can't begin to do justice to the piece.  It is from the old Rist Mine in Hiddenite, Alexander County, NC and was dug by Bud and Maryedith Sigmon in the 1970's.  Anyone seriously interested in this specimen should consider coming down to my mineral shop and see it in person.  It is partly mud included, skeletal, elestial, clear, smoky.  The back is a single long double terminated clearish crystal with the parallel growth crystals wrapping around it.  There is no damage, no chips or dings.  There are a few spots where the crystals grew against clay and have that stepped conchoidal look typical of NC mud pieces.  On a proper stand it sits upright and is simply stunning.  There is very minor attached muscovite and goethite on the back side.  Please e-mail me if you are interested.  FREE SHIPPING in the USA.
