An extraordinary specimen from the Wake Stone Quarry in Moncure, Lee County, North Carolina. Rock matrix is completely covered in lustrous glass clear quartz crystals, most of which are double terminated. Sprinkled on top are gorgeous little white calcite crystal "flowers". This large cabinet specimen is the best piece to have come out of this unusual and wonderful pocket. This quarry is famous for its array of calcite specimens, but quartz is not common here, especially in this quality. The pictures do not begin to do justice to this piece. With a loupe you will be astounded. I have never seen anything like this before. It measures 9.25 x 4.5 x 3.5 inches. It dazzles as the thousands of crystal faces sparkle on the display shelf. Micro photographers will find hundreds of superb shots in this single specimen. I doubt there will be another like it from North Carolina, or perhaps anywhere. Completely choice and undamaged.
