This old specimen is Labeled “Butter Scotch” Calcite and the name is appropriate. A pair of calcite crystals sit on a matrix of grey rock covered in a layer of tiny drusy sparkling quartz. The calcite crystals are very translucent and transmit light in color zones creating a nice gemmy effect. Perfect condition. From the Berry Materials Quarry in North Vernon, Jennings County, Indiana. Mounted in acryllic display box with old label. Measures 3 x 2 x 1.25 inches ( 7.5 x 5 x 3.1 cm).
